Mesas Redondas

Las mesas redondas son uno de los signos de identidad de FICAL desde el año 2017, siendo un punto de encuentro cinematográfico a nivel nacional y a la par sirven para acercar el cine al público en general. El hecho de estar retransmitidas en streaming hacen que en realidad estemos hablando de una fórmula casi televisiva que hace que las opiniones de sus protagonistas se perpetúen en el tiempo, sumando miles de espectadores. En el momento de escribir estas líneas quedan cerradas las composiciones definitivas, debido al calendario de rodaje de los profesionales participantes, por lo que unos días antes aparecerá el listado definitivo en la web del festival y en los medios de comunicación.

Las primeras tres mesas están moderadas por el periodista Luis Alegre. La conmemoración del 25 aniversario de la muerte de Pilar Miró que rodó en Almería “El pájaro de la felicidad” y los ya habituales “Encuentros sobre cine y televisión” con rostros populares como Aura Garrido o Álvaro Cervantes. El domingo contaremos con Gerardo Sánchez, director del programa Días de Cine como moderador de lujo.

El lunes el veterano Fernando Lara, uno de los mayores eruditos del cine de nuestro país, actuará como moderador de otra interesante actividad.

El guionista y director Tirso Calero será el conductor de la propuesta del martes titulada “Vivir rodando”. El jueves nos acercaremos a anécdotas y experiencias de intérpretes y directores que han rodado en nuestra provincia de la mano de la productora Puy Oria.

El viernes el periodista Moisés Rodríguez indagará en el tema de cine y literatura. Finalmente, el sábado la periodista Elena Sánchez conversó con algunas de los/as grandes intérpretes de comedia de nuestro país.

The round tables have been one of the hallmarks of FICAL since 2017, a national level cinematic meeting point which, at the same time, helps to bring filmmaking closer to the general public. The fact that they are streamed means that we are actually talking about an almost television-like formula that allows the opinions of its protagonists to be perpetuated over time, adding thousands of viewers. At the time of writing, the final compositions have yet to be completed, due to the filming schedule of the professionals participating, therefore the final list will appear on the festival website and in the media just a few days before.

The first three tables are to be moderated by journalist Luis Alegre: the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the death of Pilar Miró, who filmed El pájaro de la felicidad in Almería; and the usual Film and Television Encounters. On Sunday we will have Gerardo Sánchez, director of the program Días de cine, as a luxury moderator.

On Monday, the veteran Fernando Lara, one of the greatest film scholars in our country, will be moderating another interesting activity.

Tuesday's proposal entitled "Vivir rodando" (Filming for Life) will be led by the screenwriter and director Tirso Calero. On Thursday, with the help of the production company Puy Oria, we will have a close up on the anecdotes and experiences of performers and directors alike who have filmed in our province.

On Friday, the journalist Moisés Rodríguez will explore the theme of film and literature. Finally, on Saturday, the journalist Elena Sánchez will talk to some of film and television’s young promises.

JUEVES 10 DE NOV | LA PASIÓN POR EL CINE (LA CINEFILIA ALMERIENSE). VOLUMEN 2 (Asociación La Oficina)

Almería es una tierra donde los rodajes marcaron a varias generaciones. Las anécdotas se entremezclan con los rumores y las leyendas de grandes cineastas europeos y hollywoodienses. ¿Qué hay de verdad y qué hay de mito?
En este volumen 2 hacemos hincapié en la vida (y obra) de esos figurantes, extras y a veces especialistas que convivieron con esas estrellas internacionales. En esta mesa redonda, los invitados desgranarán, junto a extras de todas las edades, la historia viva de la época de oro del cine clásico y el recuerdo que dejó en estas generaciones de almerienses.

Almeria is a land where filming has marked several generations. Anecdotes intermingle with rumors and legends of great European and Hollywood filmmakers. What is true and what is a myth?
In this volume 2, we focus on the life (and work) of the bit players, extras and sometimes stuntmen who lived alongside these international stars. In this round table, the guests, together with extras of all ages, will unravel the living history of the golden age of classic cinema and the memories it left in these generations of Almerians.

MIÉRCOLES 23 DE NOV | HACIA LA CONSOLIDACIÓN DE UNA INDUSTRIA AUDIOVISUAL: LOGROS Y RETOS (TESA)

La industria audiovisual en Almería está viviendo una segunda edad dorada. Sin embargo, aún debemos enfrentar algunos retos para apuntalar nuestra provincia en un sector cada vez más globalizado. En esta etapa de abundancia de proyectos y cambio de paradigma fiscal y laboral, es más interesante que nunca poder analizar el estado en el que se encuentra el sector. Como cada año, en el marco de FICAL, la Asociación de Técnicos y Empresas del Audiovisual Almeriense (TESA) tratará de analizar en una mesa redonda participativa cómo se trabaja para consolidar el sector, los logros, carencias y propuestas para mejorar el panorama desde diversos puntos de vista.

Casi la totalidad de su actividad profesional se ha desarrollado en Almería y ha trabajado en departamentos como iluminación, cámara y localizaciones. Actualmente, se encuentra inmerso en el rodaje de una serie documental sobre la UD Almería, donde desempeña labores de operador de cámara y director de fotografía.

 

 

Ha participado en proyectos como Las noches extrañas (largometraje de Fran Ventura), Diamond flash (largometraje ópera prima de Carlos Vermut), El camino de Anantapur (documental de Fran Ventura), Controverso (documental de Nuria Vargas), Equilibrio (documental dirigido por Heikko Böhm) o Amanece (largometraje dirigido por Juan Francisco Viruega), llevando a cabo labores de diseñador de sonido, técnico de sonido directo y posproductor de sonido. Sus referentes en el universo sonoro son Walter Murch y Michel Chión, y su libro de cabecera, La audiovisión.

 

 

Combina el departamento de Transportes con el de Arte por un puro equilibrio mental y emocional, trabajando tanto en producción española como en extranjera. Miembro de TESA, decide apostar por la mesa de formación con el sueño de llegar a crear una formación gratuita o asequible a todos donde los profesionales del sector puedan seguir reciclándose y las nuevas generaciones puedan aprender de manera práctica de formadores que enseñen con base en su experiencia de trabajo en el sector.

 

 

ROUND TABLE "TOWARDS THE CONSOLIDATION OF AN AUDIOVISUAL INDUSTRY: ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES"

The audiovisual industry in Almeria is living a second golden age. However, we still have to face some challenges to reinforce our province in an increasingly globalized sector. In this stage of abundance of projects and change of fiscal and workforce paradigm, it is more interesting than ever to be able to analyze the state of the sector. As every year, within the context of FICAL, the Association of Audiovisual Technicians and Companies of Almeria (TESA) will attempt to analyze in a participatory round table their work towards sector consolidation, the achievements, shortcomings, and proposals, from different points of view, for improving the panorama.

PARTICIPANTS
MIGUEL GARCÍA MORALES. He is an Audiovisual and Entertainment Technician, with a career spanning 14 years in audiovisual media. Beginning in television, films very soon became the centre of his activity and he has participated in productions such as Vivir es fácil con los ojos cerrados, La vida era eso or the more recent Borrego, Amanece and the Foundation series. He has spent almost all his professional life working in Almería in departments such as lighting, camera and locations. He is currently immersed in the filming of a documentary series about UD Almería football club, where he is working as a camera operator and director of photography.
CARLOS FERNÁNDEZ TABLADA. He is a Sound Technician with a degree in Audiovisual Communication. His passion for sound has led him to spread his professional career over various fields: live music, theatre, teaching and film, although it is the work for the seventh art that motivates him the most. He has been a founding partner of several production companies, such as Reafilma, in Madrid, and La Plataforma Audiovisual, in Almería. As a sound designer, direct sound technician and sound post-producer he has participated in projects such as Las noches extrañas (a feature film by Fran Ventura), Diamond flash (a debut feature film by Carlos Vermut), El camino de Anantapur (a documentary by Fran Ventura), Controverso (a documentary by Nuria Vargas), Equilibrio (a documentary directed by Heikko Böhm) and Amanece (a feature film directed by Juan Francisco Viruega). His references in the universe of sound are Walter Murch and Michel Chión, and his bedside book, La audiovisión.
VERONICA ARIAS. After training as a Higher Technician in Image and Sound, Graphic Design and Interior and Exterior Decoration for pure personal interest, Game of Thrones and with it a new career path came into her life. She started her career in the audiovisual industry, in the Location Department, but she was not enthusiastic about it. When she was presented with an opportunity in the Art department, she was hooked. She combined the Transport department with the Art department for a real mental and emotional balance, working in both Spanish and foreign productions. As a member of TESA, she decided to commit to the training area with the dream of creating free or affordable training for everyone. That way sector professionals can continue to recycle themselves and the new generations can learn from trainers who teach in a practical way, based on their work experience in the sector.
JESÚS SALVADOR DE BINA. He is a multifaceted artist who has been working in films as head of the Makeup and Wardrobe department for fifteen years. He has worked for major brands as a fashion stylist; he graduated in Barcelona as a professional actor with the Meisner technique, which he has incorporated in some of his works, as well as a presenter. He also works as a DJ at festivals and concert halls, where he performs his own show. In 2022, together with his partner Charo Fernández, he founded the production company Agape Contenido.

Mesa Redonda "Cine independiente: Conservadurismo contra riesgo"

Por tercer año consecutivo en FICAL, se abre una ventana a la colaboración con la Asociación de Directores y Directoras de Cine ACCIÓN para abordar la problemática del sector. En esta ocasión, se presentará el libro Guía de derechos creativos para directores y directoras de cine, que ya estuvo en el Festival de San Sebastián. Posteriormente, habrá una mesa redonda sobre la situación del cine independiente.

ROUND TABLE "INDEPENDENT FILMS: CONSERVATISM VERSUS RISK".
For the third year running at FICAL, we have opened a window for cooperation with ACCIÓN, the ‘Asociación de Directores y Directoras de Cine’ (Film Directors’ Association) to address the problems of the sector. On this occasion, the book; Guía de derechos creativos para directores y directoresas de cine ("A Filmmakers’ Guide to Creative Rights"), which was already shown at the San Sebastian Festival, will be presented. Afterwards, there will be a round table discussion on the situation of independent films.
This activity is organized by ACCIÓN, in collaboration with DAMA and the SGAE Sociedad General de Autores y Editores.
