Las conexiones entre cine y literatura son infinitas. En esta sección nos sumergiremos en sugerentes propuestas literarias que aúnan ambas disciplinas artísticas. Todo ello gracias a la complicidad de la librería Picasso.
El protagonista este año es Carlos Aguilar con su obra La muerte tenía un precio: 60 años de un prodigio, que ha contado con el apoyo de la Diputación de Almería.
Se trata de un volumen en completo y absoluto homenaje a lo que significa artísticamente y comportó industrial y sociológicamente la producción de esta película en su aniversario. Comprende cuatro gruesos capítulos que analizan el film bajo un punto de vista estético y lo desglosan desde su origen y preparación, con diversidad de datos y referencias, en muchas ocasiones inéditos hasta la fecha, incluidos documentos oficiales, así como con citas de expertos internacionales y de gente que trabajó en ella, delante y detrás de la cámara, para finalizar con la ficha técnico-artística más exhaustiva jamás publicada. Además, se repasan las localizaciones y los decorados en España, con especial incidencia en la construcción del poblado en la almeriense Tabernas, actualmente denominado Minihollywood Oasys.
The connections between film and literature are endless. In this section, we will immerse ourselves in evocative literary works that bring together both artistic fields. All this is possible thanks to the collaboration of the Picasso bookshop.
This year’s protagonist is Carlos Aguilar with his work La muerte tenía un precio: 60 años de un prodigio (For a Few Dollars More. 60 Years of a Prodigy) which has received the support of the Almería Provincial Council.
This volume is a complete and absolute tribute to the artistic significance and industrial and sociological impact of the production of this film on its anniversary. It comprises four thick chapters that analyse the film from an aesthetic point of view and break it down from its origin and preparation, with a wealth of data and references, many of which are unpublished to date, including official documents, as well as quotes from international experts and people who worked on it, both in front of and behind the camera, ending with the most exhaustive technical and artistic file ever published. In addition, the locations and sets in Spain are reviewed, with special emphasis on the construction of the village in Tabernas, Almería, currently known as Minihollywood Oasys.

Madrileño, historiador cinematográfico y musical, novelista y ensayista, ha desarrollado una prolífica carrera de más de cuarenta años colaborando con festivales, TVE y la Filmoteca Española. Autor de cerca de ochenta libros publicados en España, Italia y Alemania, destacan Guía del Cine, Clint Eastwood, American Western en España, EuroSexy y Cine de terror 1950-1959, además de dos volúmenes sobre Sergio Leone. En coautoría con su esposa, la escritora canadiense Anita Haas, ha firmado títulos como John Phillip Law, Eugenio Martín, Flamenco y Cine y Flamenco Jazz. También ha publicado siete novelas y ha recibido una decena de premios.
Born in Madrid, Carlos Aguilar is a film and music historian, novelist, and essayist. Over more than forty years, he has developed a prolific career collaborating with film festivals, TVE, and the Spanish Film Archive (Filmoteca Española). Author of nearly eighty books published in Spain, Italy, and Germany, his notable works include Guía del Cine, Clint Eastwood, American Western en España, EuroSexy, and Cine de terror 1950–1959, as well as two volumes devoted to Sergio Leone. In collaboration with his wife, Canadian writer Anita Haas, he has coauthored titles such as John Phillip Law, Eugenio Martín, Flamenco y Cine, and Flamenco Jazz. He has also published seven novels and received numerous awards throughout his career.
