Este año en FICAL hemos querido que los estudiantes participantes en la actividad «Cómo hice mi primer largo» conozcan de cerca a dos directores andaluces que con esta obra marcaron el rumbo del cine hecho en nuestra región.
Nuestro festival ha querido ser el primero en celebrar el 25 aniversario de El factor Pilgrim, primer largometraje de la llamada «generación Cinexin» que Alberto y Santi rodaron en Inglaterra tras el éxito de su cortometraje Bancos.
La carrera de ambos realizadores marchó luego por diferentes caminos. Santi Amodeo, en 2004, fue candidato a mejor director novel en los Premios Goya por Astronautas, que fue elegida por Variety como una de las diez películas europeas de 2004. Otros títulos de su filmografía son Cabeza de perro, ¿Quién mató a Bambi?, Yo, mi mujer y mi mujer muerta, Las gentiles y El cielo de los animales.
Por su parte, Alberto Rodríguez es uno de los directores más importantes de nuestro país, con obras como El traje, 7 vírgenes, After, Grupo 7, El hombre de las mil caras (por la que obtuvo el Goya al mejor guion adaptado), Modelo 77, Los tigres o La isla mínima, ganadora de diez premios Goya, incluidos los de mejor película, director y guion.
This year at FICAL, we wanted the students participating in the activity 'How I made my first feature film' to get to know two Andalusian directors who set the course for filmmaking in our region with this work.
Our festival wanted to be the first to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Pilgrim Factor, the first feature film by the so-called 'Cinexin generation' that Alberto and Santi shot in England after the success of their short film Bancos.
The careers of both filmmakers then took different paths. In 2004, Santi Amodeo was nominated for Best New Director at the Goya Awards for Astronauts, which was chosen by Variety as one of the ten best European films of 2004. Other titles in his portfolio include Dog Head, Who Killed Bambi?, Me, My Wife and My Dead Wife, The Gentiles and The Sky of Animals.
Alberto Rodríguez, meanwhile, is one of the most important directors in our country, with works such as The Last Suit, 7 Virgins, After, Unit 7, Smoke and Mirrors (for which he won the Goya for Best Adapted Screenplay), Prison77, Los tigres and Marshland, winner of ten Goya awards, including Best Film, Director and Screenplay.
