En 1922, el Teatro Cervantes de Almería agotó todas sus localidades para la función de Santa Isabel de Ceres. Su protagonista, Conchita Robles, se preparaba para salir a escena cuando su marido, el comandante Carlos Berdugo, la asesinó entre bastidores ante un público que confundió los disparos con parte de la obra. Años atrás, una adivina le había advertido que se guardara del verdugo. Convertida en una actriz de éxito, Conchita había abandonado el teatro por imposición de su esposo, pero alentada por su amiga Carmen de Burgos (Colombine), pidió el divorcio y volvió a los escenarios. Su regreso selló su destino y la convirtió en símbolo trágico de la lucha de las mujeres por su libertad.

In 1922, Almería's Teatro Cervantes was sold out for the performance of Santa Isabel de Ceres. Its leading actress, Conchita Robles, was preparing to go on stage when her husband, Commander Carlos Berdugo, shot her behind the curtains before an audience that mistook the gunfire for part of the play. Years earlier, a fortune teller had warned her to "beware of the executioner." Having achieved fame, Conchita abandoned the stage at her husband's demand, but encouraged by her friend Carmen de Burgos (Colombine), she sought a divorce and returned to acting. Her comeback sealed her fate, turning her into a tragic symbol of women's fight for freedom.

Licenciada en Medicina por la Facultad de Cádiz, la vida de Fanny no estuvo exenta de dificultades, enfrentándose a la Guerra Civil y a todos los convencionalismos y estándares morales. Comprometida con los derechos de la mujer y la justicia social, y en su afán por descubrir la cura del cáncer, contribuyó también al avance científico a través de su investigación sobre el radio y llegó a regentar su propio consultorio. Injustamente desconocida, es momento de recordar a la primera mujer andaluza en ejercer la medicina.

A graduate in Medicine from the University of Cádiz, Fanny's life was not free of hardship. She faced the Spanish Civil War and the social and moral conventions of her time. Committed to women's rights and social justice, and driven by her desire to find a cure for cancer, she also contributed to scientific progress through her research on radium and even ran her own medical practice. Unjustly forgotten, it is now time to remember the first Andalusian woman to practice medicine.
